As part of our Water Inquiry  we have talked about how precious water is and how lucky we are to have fresh water at the turn of a tap. Some of the children in our class noticed the water fountain outside our class always seems to have a pool of water around it, they were concerned about the waste of water.

Weeks 1 and 2

Mathematics - Measurement
We have been measuring length, weight and capacity.

 We constructed paper planes and measured how far they flew.

Science Experiment
We investigated the properties of oil and water. No matter how hard we mixed, stirred and stirred, the oil would always float back up onto the surface of the water. When we mixed extra fast an oily 'tornado' formed in the glass - so exciting, try this at home!

Frozen paint made for a wonderfully messy play.

Dress up Carers and Pirates

 Magnets
Challenge - tape a magnet onto toy car, then use other magnets to try and move the cars along the roads without touching the cars. Tricky !
Some magnets attracted the cars and some repelled them, moving them backwards, which was interesting and we need to investigate further !
